Boa noite pessoal, o que significa o termo: nomodeset.

Como nos kernels mais atuais as configura&ccedil;&otilde;es de v&iacute;deo agora &eacute; feita pelo kernel, isto fez com que fosse poss&iacute;vel ter maiores resolu&ccedil;&otilde;es para um splash (boot) mais bonito e uma melhor transi&ccedil;&atilde;o do boot splash para a tela de login. Mas, infelizmente, para algumas placas de v&iacute;deo isto n&atilde;o funciona adequadamente e voc&ecirc; acaba em uma tela preta. Adicionando o par&acirc;metro nomodeset, isto faz com que o kernel n&atilde;o carregue os modos de v&iacute;deo e utilize o modo de v&iacute;deo da BIOS at&eacute; que o servidor X seja carregado, contornando o problema.

The newest kernels have moved the video mode setting into the kernel.   So all the programming of the hardware specific clock rates and  registers on the video card happen in the kernel rather than in the X  driver when the X server starts.. This makes it possible to have high  resolution nice looking splash (boot) screens and flicker free  transitions from boot splash to login screen. Unfortunately, on some  cards this doesnt work properly and you end up with a black screen. Adding the nomodeset parameter instructs the kernel to not load video drivers and use BIOS modes instead until X is loaded.

Valeu pela explica&ccedil;&atilde;o dalencar, eu estava pensando que este par&acirc;metro poderia intervir no desempenho da vga.
