Depois de 10 meses de desenvolvimento, está disponível a versão 0.12.0 do Kopete (mensageiro instantâneo multiprotocolo para Linux), a última da série para o KDE 3.5, segundo o site oficial. Entre as novidades, estão a conversação por voz e transferência de arquivos no Jabber, incluindo-se o Google Talk, além das mensagens offline e uma série de atualizações em protocolos.

Adium style chat window themes
Kopete has removed
support for the old XSL based chat window themes and now supports the same chat
window themes that the Mac OS X client Adium uses. A few themes will be included
in Kopete and there are many more available for download at AdiumXtras

New Protocol Implementation
The next version of Kopete will feature a
new Yahoo! protocol backend based on the Task architecture that is in use in the
OSCAR (AIM/ICQ), Groupwise, and Jabber.

Experimental support for Jingle voice chats
Kopete now features experimental support for Google Talk voice chats. Please keep in mind
that support for this feature of the Jabber protocol is completely experimental
and is something that the user will have to use at his/her own risk.
