Não consigo instalar o firmware do modelo HL-DT-ST CD-ROM GCR-8523B, a versão atual do meu drive é 1.01 segundo o Nero InfoToll.

Neste link já existe o firmware mais novo (1.03) http://br.lgservice.com/index_b2c.jsp (GCR-8523B103(XP,2000)EW.zip), mas não consigo instalar, toda vez a bandeja é ejetada e ele pede prá reinicializar e tentar novamente,´acho que tô errando em alguma coisa. :cry:

Alguém já tentou atualizar esse modelo GCR-8523B?????

Tá usando o firm correto?
A LG tem o GCR e o GCE 8523b
Existem problemas com o GCE 8523b dele simplesmente morrer qdo se atualiza o firm, mesmo o programa informando sucesso na operação...

:roll: Agora reparem no seguinte: a versão atual do meu modelo é a 1.01, na página da LG/USA: http://us.lgservice.com/gcsc/b2c/hpi/main há uma versão 1.02 e 1.03. :roll:

:?: Será que tenho que fazer atualizar primeiro da minha versão atual (1.01) para a 1.02 e depois para a 1.03? :?:

Que eu sabia,firmware e cumulativo,voce pode atualizar direto pra ultima versao.

Voce esta usando flasher para DOS?Como voce esta tentando atualizar?

Pelo que vi no arquivo readme.txt que vem no arquivo zipado (299KB), o processo é feito dentro do winXP e não via-dos, veja aqui o arquivo com as instruções:

GCR-8523B Version 1.03 Firmware Update

To update the firmware of the GCR-8523B please refer to the following instructions:

Note: Not following the subsequent update instructions explicitly will result in
permanent damage to your drive, for which LG will not be responsible.

This firmware update is for drives with original firmware versions below 1.02.
The drives must be original LG branded drives with model number GCR-8523B(no OEM units).

If you have an OEM unit, branded with another manufacturers name,
please contact that manufacturer for support and firmware updates.

This firmware update is for use only on PC¡¯s with Windows 2000 and XP.

¡Ø Critical Instructionsto be followed carefully)

1. Connect the drive as ¡°master¡±by it self, on the secondary IDE controller
with no other device on the same IDE cable, making note to set the jumper
on the back of the drive to the ¡°master¡± position.

2. Download the file GCR-8523B103(XP,2000)EW.ZIP to a folder of your choice.
This download includes this ¡°Readme¡±text file and firmware file(GCR-8523B103.LGE)
as well as the GCR-8523B103(XP,2000).EXE program, which will auto-update your drive¡¯s firmware.

3. Close all other programs including: screen saver, antivirus and/or power-down programs.
(If these programs are not closed, they will try to engage the PC, during the update process,
thus interrupting the update and damaging the drive).

4. Check the drive to ensure that there is no disk in the tray
before you start the update procedure.

5. Go into the folder with the update file and double click
the GCR-8523B103(XP,2000).EXE program.

6. 'Firmware Downloader' program will be displayed.
And, click 'Informaton' tab and check 'Current Device'
: You can see the drive and FW version.

If not GCR-8523B, you have to change 'current device' as GCR-8523B
by use of clicking in avaiable devices.

7. And click 'JV4' tab and you'll see the firmware;GCR-8523B103.LGE next to 'F/W Filename'

8. You can click the 'Download' tab, and click it.
Firmware upgrade will be started automatically.

When the UPGRADE is complete the screen should indicate FIRMWARE UPDATE SUCCESSFUL.
And then Re-boot your PC.

The update will be complete, after you reboot your system.

WARNING: Do not open any programs or start any system functions during the update,
as they will interfere with data transfer and damage the drive.
Do not cancel the operation once it has been started or the drive will
become permanently damaged, as a result.

Fiz todo o processo como manda esse arquivo, só que em vez de aparecer a mensagem FIRMWARE UPDATE SUCCESSFUL, simplesmente a bandeja do CD-ROM é ejetada e ele manda que reinicilize o PC e tente novamente, vira um looping eterno.

Huuummmm,entao tente usar o flasher para DOS,o JE,que vinha junto com os firmwares dos drives antigos.Como a entensao do arquivo e o mesmo (.lge),provavelmente o JE deve funcionar.

Tenta baixar algum firmware de drive de CD,DVD ou gravador de CD que geralmente vem junto o JE.

Antes que eu me esqueça,e por sua conta e risco.

Baixe por exemplo o firmware do drive GCR-8521B,tem o JV2,use somente o flasher,os outros arquivos voce pode deletar:

Nao e no prompt,e no modo DOS puro,se voceusar WIn XP,vai ter que dar o boot usando o disco de boot do Win 98.O comando e esse mesmo.
